Approach 

Methods

I only use methods that are evidence-based, rooted mainly in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I do include elements of other evidence-based methods as needed. For example, I have incorporated Schema Therapy by Jeffrey Young, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) by Marcia Linehan, Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) by Adrian Wells, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) by Steven Hayes as well as mindfulness and relaxation (e.g., Progressive Muscle Relaxation by Jacobson) based on the individual situation. The methods will be discussed during the sessions so you have full transparency.

Privacy

My clients’ privacy is taken very seriously. I adhere to all privacy laws and professional codes of conduct which means that I am legally and ethically bound to keep your information confidential. Everything you share during the therapy is treated as strictly confidential. Additionally, I have no waiting room and I reserve sufficient time between appointments to ensure that clients do not run into each other when arriving/leaving our sessions.

 

Medication

As a psychologist, I am not authorized to prescribe medication. Should we find that you would benefit from medication, we can involve your family doctor or I will be happy to refer you to a psychiatrist.

Health Precautions

You will be welcomed by a smile instead of a handshake. During the session a high-power air purifier is in use. In the event that you have cold symptoms I kindly ask you to reschedule your appointment and a missed session will not be charged. Alternatively, I will be happy to offer a video session.
